Spending time with flagstone with its iridescent colors and the shapes of nested crescents where erosion has taken place was pure joy, and I plan on doing it again soon. After living in Bedford Stuyvesant, Brooklyn for so many years, there was plenty of opportunity to study this soft mineral used for sidewalks back in the day. This piece started as a study, and I continued developing it into a finished piece, adding the tiny leaves as the final touch.
