One time, I took a picture of a crack and posted on social media with the message, “Am I the only one who falls in love with cracks in the sidewalk?” One funny friend responded, “Probably”, but I don’t believe its true! Do you love them too? This piece, like many, are begun by splashing oil paint on unprimed paper which stains it immediately, and lays the groundwork for a chaotic underpainting. The piece takes shape as I try to resolve the randomness into something deliberate.
